ok my car is brand new 1999 with 20k miles on it..
I noticed it start to do the 2-3 gear crunch yesterday... i doesn't do it ALL the time, just when i'm redlining it and shifting at 7800+rpms...
It seems like alot of people have the same problem.. Is there a recall on that? there should be, we should all complain about it to Honda...
Also, anyone find out WHY it does that? are the honda sychro's to blame? are the cheap in quality? this sucks..
Not to mention my car is turbocharged, would that be a cause for to do taht? i don't think it would, but what do you guys think?
thanks

did u miss shift a lot in to 3rd?, that could be the cause of the 3rd gear synchro problem. The miss shifts could have grinded the synchro. It happened to me, just get it fixed on warranty. if u don't get it fixed, it will slowly get worse.

hmm no don't miss shift a lot, but i do race it alot and 3rd gear see's a lot of abuse, especially on the freeway..
I guess i can take it in under warrenty however, whate about the turbo? think they will hassle me about it?

well i think they should fix it, like my service rep said that they don't care if i turboed my car but they wouldn't fix any blown engine damage, but they would still fix other problems that are not turbo related. so they should fix it. just make sure they don't screw up ur turbo setup, while they fixed my synchro, they kinda dinged up my aem. Good luck

Try some Slick 50 gearbox additive. Give it about 200 miles to coat everything. I like to wind out in third, then drop it into 5th. I had always used the stuff, then ran for a while with only Mobil 1 in the tranny. I couldn't wind it out in third, then shift into 5th, like I always had without grinding. Sure, if I waited for the revs to drop, it would work OK. I'm back to using the additive, with no high rpm shifting problems.

Hey, I wouldn't use synthetic motor oil in a transmission. It's supposed to be too slippery and thus cause syncro problems cause they can't grip anymore. MTF from Amsoil and Redline have little "grit" in the oil for the syncros to grip. Just my opinion..

Slick 50 huh? I might give that a try.. I doubt it will help though..
I changed the tranny fluid over the weekend to Mobile 1 synthetic and guess what, it still does the 2-3 grind.. almost everytime now, double clutching doesn't even stop it... ACK
what should I do? I think Acura will cover it under warrenty with the turbo setup, however, once I bring it in, they will know I have a turbo and next time when I have engine problems, they will say its cause I had a turbo on there, even if i remove the turbo and bring it in next time.. wouldn't they?
ARGH.. this sucks.. how much is an ITR tranny anyways?
